How do state governments structure their human services agencies?

APHSA is frequently asked by our members to detail how states organizationally configure human services programs, services, and functions. Building upon the data we contributed to in Urban Institute’s 2022 report, What Are Human Services, and How Do State Governments Structure Them?, we have updated the information based upon recent state survey responses and APHSA verified web searches.

We plan to refresh this information annually and encourage agencies to provide contemporaneous updates using this short form.
