The meeting introduced the June showcase webinar “Moving beyond the classroom to strengthen training” and highlighted upcoming NSDTA events, including a conference in Norfolk, Virginia, and learning exchanges. Presenters from Fairfax County’s Child Welfare Institute discussed adult learning theory, transfer of learning, and the development of an onboarding academy for child welfare professionals in partnership with the Butler Institute. The session concluded with discussions on the Safe and Connected practice model, strategies for handling difficult conversations, and the impact of language on practice, including a simulation exercise to demonstrate reframing conversations.
